#FridayFive from the Executive Director: 07 March 2025

An awesome week to report in my #FridayFive across the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore (BritCham):

1.  Women at work – one of my favourite events of the year, we hosted our annual International Women’s Day lunch, featuring Lucy Hughes (UK in Singapore), Aditi Mahadevan Nair (Barclays), Theodora (Moringa Ventures & Tembusu Partners), Angelia Chin-Sharpe (BNP Paribas Asset Management), Kay Vasey (k-ID) and Rodney Kinchington (BT Group) in a panel moderated by Sharon Tong (The Media Consultants SG). Our panel members discussed the current DEI landscape and how they have fostered diversity and inclusion in their workplaces. Thank you to our AWESOME Women in Business Committee members Emma Loynes Ruth Lockwood, Valerie, Peichan Wu, Urmila Baskaran, Desiree M. Tan, Batya Shulman, Claire Robley, Stephanie Lim Pierce, Cathy He, Jessica Torres Underwood. who made the event possible! The Chamber is grateful to our Title Partner Barclays, Video Partner AsiaWorks, Media Partner Expat Living Singapore, Supporting Partners Howden, North London Collegiate School (Singapore) and Westbourne College Singapore. Also, thanks to the awesome Hannah Williams from Scribble Inc Ltd.

2. Overseas Chamber CEOs session – always enjoy the wider British Chambers of Commerce updates with all of the global CEOs. Great to get an update on priorities that strengthen the global British Chamber network.

3. Marketing Legend – I had the delight of recording a podcast with Byron Sharp this week. Whilst I’m looking forward to that coming out, Byron is going to be in Singapore in a few weeks for his How Brands Grow Live! from the 7-10th April. Details in the comments below!

4. Enhancing the Chamber Strategy – We had a Board strategy session with the team this week. A great opportunity to re-look at our programme and further support our members. Thank you to all of the Board and my amazing team for such an engaging session on membership, content and events, trade services.

5. Network of Chambers in Singapore – Thank you to Dr. Tim Philippi for hosting a lovely lunch with fellow International chamber colleagues, Carine and Dr. Hsien-Hsien Lei. I’m so grateful for the relationships, but also super interesting to hear about the programmes across the German, French, US, and British networks.

That’s it for this week (and managed to squeeze in some music too, photo thanks to Ryan de Bruyne). About to jump on a flight back to the #UK for the Department for Business and Trade's Made in the UK, Sold in the Indo-Pacific: Meet the Experts 2025, together with a number of the CEO's from the British Chambers that make up Britain in South East Asia | BiSEA. Look forward to seeing those of you who are attending.
