#FridayFive from the Executive Director: 13 December 2024

Penultimate #FridayFive of 2024, and Oh. My. Word… what a week. Here’s a short highlight of some of my top moments across the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore (BritCham):

1. Festive Fun: we had a mesmerizingly brilliant Great British Ball. 500+ guests, fab food, amazing music by 10 seconds’ Kalliope and Simon, brilliant auction by Shaun McEwan. Carol singing from the wonderful kids Brighton College (Singapore) and Dulwich College (Singapore). Sensational evening. Thank you to everyone who made it so brilliant (and Ashni Degamia Caitrin Moh and team). And, the gift that keeps on giving, as all guests have their online festive goody bag packed full of discounts - check out your inbox! 🎄💃

2.  Optimistic about UK Tech: The Chamber and British Tech Advisors (B.TA) signed an MOU, championing collaboration across both organisations, bringing together our tech experts from across the community. The curated community of top-tier investors, founders and experts is there to support UK #tech scale-ups establishing themselves in #Singapore. Thanks to Kay Vasey Leslie Sarma Martin Kent Daisy Radford Louise Beazor who have been championing this. 👩‍💻 🛰️

3.  Reconnecting: Great to see Ewan Lacey from Toll Group, a friend and former colleague from my #wine and #spirit days. Great to catch up and talk about the opportunities for #UK BWS category in Singapore and Southeast Asia. Safe onward travels, Ewan. 🍷 🥃

4.  ASEAN to UK: the Britain in South East Asia | BiSEA CEOs met online this week, as we plan our next 6-monthly conference, which is looking likely to be held in London in conjunction with the Department for Business and Trade APAC roadshow, UK-ASEAN Business Council (UKABC) Business Summit, and the British Chambers of Commerce International Trade Conference in March. More updates soon! 🌏 🤝

5.  Yangon: Had an amazing time, thanks to Ian Fox, Alison Fox and the epic team at British Chamber of Commerce Myanmar. The Eden House Party band enjoyed a brilliant evening at the British Club in Yangon as we danced, played and sang the night away. Many friends made and much fun had to cap off a week which is feeling more Christmassy! Thank you to fellow band members Steve Firstbrook, Andrew Clark, Adrian Fisher and Ryan de Bruyn 🎶 🎸

Thanks also to our awesome Built Environment Committee for the festive drinks too. I hope you enjoyed the foray across my week, and look forward to seeing you next time.
