#FridayFive from the Executive Director: 15 November 2024
My #FridayFive this week has been full of meetings. Here’s what has been going on at the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore (BritCham).
1. Sunday’s Remembrance: The Chamber attended Remembrance Sunday, formally represented by Haslam Preeston on the day. It’s always a morning of mixed emotion, and whilst it was a wetter morning than usual, a purposeful reminder of the importance of peace and unity. So nice to see so many of our community attend.
2. Humbled at the MOM appreciation Dinner: I was honoured to attend the Ministry of Manpower’s Appreciation Dinner. If you look back over my #FridayFive updates, the MoM often features, and its testament to the excellent relationship we have on behalf of our members and the British business community. Thank you to Tan See Leng, Poh-Koon Koh (Dr) and all of the MOM team for such a memorable, and appreciated evening.
3. Internally Talking Trade: Louise Beazor and Emma Gibbons delivered a brilliant Lunch and Learn for the Chamber team on all of the activities and planning across our support for #UK companies wanting to grow in #Singapore and the value of our proposition. The same week, we were delighted to welcome Paul Watson, Duncan Rayner, Jonathan Galloway and Suhaimy Hassan from Newcastle University as we discussed #data and #tech and opportunities for UK companies here and in the North East of England.
4. New Members: welcome to 8 new member companies to the Chamber, and our primary members:
Sterling Member - Howden Insurance Brokers (S) Pte Ltd - Mike Baker Daniel Fairweather
Coulthwaite Group Pte Ltd - Rafe Fletcher
Hong Rui Construction Pte Ltd - HAI YUAN xu
Intralink - Alexander Barton - 安磊
Stephenson Harwood LLP - Marilyn Quek
Moore's Lore Media | Creative Business & Communications Consulting - Neal Moore
voco Orchard Singapore, an IHG Hotel - Sahil Rahat
Veracity Trust Network - Stewart Boutcher
5. Santander UK: Great to see John Simkins who is over in Singapore as we caught up on things around trade, supporting UK companies and the digitalisation of the movement of goods.
That’s it for this week. Have a great weekend, and look forward to seeing you soon.
