#FridayFive from the Executive Director: 16 May 2025 | British Chamber Of Commerce Singapore

Is it #FridayFive time already?! Here’s my world across the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore (BritCham) for this week:

1. Members: Had some awesome meetings this week. Massively inspired by Nick Potter (thanks for the catch up), and learned so much from Daniel Tan from ComfortDelGro (love the toy taxis!). Glenn Reidie has landed back in Singapore and great to keep up the Westbourne College Singapore conversations. Alexander Barton - 安磊, thanks for your time talking trade. 🙌💯

2. Understanding Corporate Structures: We had a team “Lunch and Learn” (although I forgot to arrange the lunch part…). The fab Desiree M. Tan from FIDINAM Group talked to us about corporate structures and clients entering the #Singapore market and expanding overseas. Thank you so much Des for also sending snacks to the team to spare my bad-boss-blushes… You’re a star. 🌟 👩‍🏫

3. Meetings across Team UK: Had a brilliant quarterly update from HMTC Martin Kent on all things APAC trade. Some great ideas, great connectivity, and these meetings help equip the Chamber CEOs with and understanding of the UK Gov’s trade activity. Also had the pleasure (and a beer afterwards!) with Martin Darby, the CEO of BritCham Cambodia who’s doing a superb job growing the network there. Safe travels Martin and see you soon! 🌏🗺️

4. Making more of the Foreign Secretary's Speech in March : Delighted to host Charles H. MVO, Director for Southeast Asia and Pacific at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office as he met Board members and Committee Chairs to discuss how #TeamUK can be even stronger. Thank you to Andrew Clark, Prakash Pinto, Lissy Vadakel, Daisy Radford, Tim Rockell, Andrew McKeown, Suzy Goulding,Dr. Michael Yap, Steve Firstbrook and Rhiannon Harries. I’ve got some homework to do! 🇬🇧🤝

5. You know who you are: had another week of support from colleagues and friends: Thanks for the brunch on Mother’s Day, and thank you Dr. Michael Yap – you brightened my day with a local kopi. Thanks to James Price too for the tea and the escape earlier in the week. You’re all super stars. 💙 ☕️
