#FridayFive from the Executive Director: 2 October 2026

My #FridayFive has a slightly more fluffy theme to it, but still a massively impactful couple of weeks at the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore (BritCham). Here’s whats been going on either side of a trip to #London:

1.  Brilliant Discussion: Thank you to John Bittleston and Eliza from Terrific Mentors International for hosting such a wonderful session with Gillian Tetttt, discussing gratuitous turmoil. 20 year anniversary of the event and still going strong, and it was a pleasure to see so much of the network there. Happy Birthday John too!

2.  Receiving MPs: We were delighted to host the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee, Commons Select Committee’s Simon Hoare MP (Chair), Markus Campbell-Savours MP, Charlotte Cane, Sam Carling MP, Lauren Edwards, Peter L., Mike Winter and Dr Philip LARKIN as we talked about the Chamber network, supporting businesses, engaging with government, and connections across healthcare and life sciences. I wish the delegation a pleasant onward journey, and thank you for spending time with the Chamber.

3.  UK Overseas: We supported the brilliant Mark Fletcherher with a fantastic UK-China Business Reception, and it was nice to see Ian Gibbons OBE and the UK-ASEAN Business Council (UKABC) team in Singapore for a reception and a meeting with the Chamber in Singapore. With Singapore Chairing ASEAN next year, there is much to work on collaboratively as we talked about the Chamber launching an ASEAN conference in Singapore next year to support regional connectivity for businesses.

4.  Chalfont to Singapore: one of those amazing meetings… “where are you from… where abouts… which street…” – what a brilliant moment to meet Robert Fletcher, new members from Heart Relocation. We met in the office in Singapore, and then he and his family kindly took me for dinner in Chalfont St Peter back in the UK. Rob, thank you, and lovely to meet Anna and Anthony too.

5.  Exceptional Community: Thank you to H.E. Nikesh Mehta for hosting the Chamber Board for our annual dinner. We also held a Business Committee Chairs session to support collaboration across our committees and starting out thinking around 2027 content for members. The Chamber was also represented at the Community Leaders session this week at Eden Hall bringing the Chamber, British High Commission, Schools, Northern Irish, Irish, Scottish and Welsh, and British Association – 50,000 in our community and so much coming up on the run-up to Christmas starting with F1 next week, Cyber Week, Energy Week and Fintech Festival.

Lastly, a HUGE thank you to the superstars - Steve Firstbrook John Jenkins Daniel Fairweather Glenn Harris Mark Domitrak Damian Adams MBE - who supported me last week in London. You’re support means the world, AND thank you Jay Gadar for your generous mooncakes - thanks for thinking of me and the team.

That's it - have a great weekend. 🐈‍⬛
