#FridayFive from the Executive Director: 28 March 2025
My #FridayFive in a slightly truncated week back in Singapore has been a mega “welcome back”. Here’s what I’ve been up to:
1. Supporting Wellbeing: delighted to support the awesome Chris Cummings, Mark Rix and team for their brilliant Wellbeing at Work World Asia Summit 2025. Some brilliant conversations about supporting staff, especially with two of the Chamber’s core pillars being the Future of Work and D&I. Looking forward to future contributions. 🤲🎤
2. Hosting London International Shipping Week: a real pleasure to see some fabulous friends and colleagues across the #maritime sphere this week, and great meeting with Andy Snell from London International Shipping Week 2025. We’ve almost reversed our careers between Chambers and the maritime space! Will be seeing how maritime companies in #Singapore can contribute to the discussions in #London in September. Safe onward journey, Andy! 🇬🇧⚓️
3. Internal Updates: We had a Chamber Board meeting this week, looking at the progress we’ve made over the last month, and progressing with our events activity and membership growth. I’m very grateful for the support of our Board who really do help me and the team on a daily basis. 🧑⚖️🙋
4. Panel at Sea Asia - Anchoring the Global Maritime Marketplace: What a pleasure to moderate a stellar line up of John Chudley, Mark Jackson and Taylor Wamberg for an hour-long panel. We certainly motored through key topics including #sustainability, #technology, #geopolitics and #skills across the sector. Some brilliant audience questions too, and a privilege to hear from industry champions. 🗣️🌊
5. Skills and Standards: with thanks to the regional branch of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), a number of professional engineering institutions in Singapore discussed the landscape of supporting Young Engineers Singapore with Nikesh Mehta. Great to see Kogi Oberoi, Steve O'Connor, Robert Cooke, Andy Bell, Cindy Goh, John Chudley, Sridev Mookerjea, Bart Lubecki, and Thomas Collier all supporting this important conversation. 👩🏫👏
So with maritime a key theme this week, looking forward to heading into April next week. Congratulations to the MLA College for their awesome inaugural graduation in Singapore - what a brilliant opportunity to celebrate the successes and distance learning.
And a final thank you to Chris Webb - you’re an awesome friend :)
Have a great weekend ahead!
