#FridayFive from the Executive Director: 6 December 2024
#FridayFive – I’m back on the shores of #Singapore this week, and another cracking week across the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore (BritCham). Here’s what I’ve been up to…
1. Community: With thanks to the brilliant Lisa Ferraton, Lionel Ch'ng and Kar Yee Lim for bringing together Senior Minister of State Low Yen Ling and Chambers with the CDCs. An opportunity to discuss how Chambers are currently engaging with our wider community here in Singapore. Looking forward to continuing our efforts, and already excited about our engagement in the Chingay Parade next year! Plus, delighted SMS is a Manchester United fan! 💚 ☺️
2. Helping #UK companies: great to reconnect with growing UK company Haruko Shamyl Malik and Adrian Rymill to discuss their engagement with the Chamber and opportunities in Singapore. I love meeting businesses who are innovative and passionate about building skills in Singapore and growing their business in the Little Red Dot. 🇸🇬 🇬🇧
3. Education at its best: Welcomed Chris Brooks from the University of Leeds as we talked about #innovation and promoting UK education. Also, delighted to join Lissy Vadakel for my first UK-SG Alumni Advisory Group meeting. Brilliant network to support and meet those with a UK story. 👩🏫🏫
4. Conversations on #Business and #Diplomacy: I had the pleasure and privilege of sitting down with British High Commissioner to Singapore, his Excellency Nikesh Mehta OBE in front of a live studio audience at the amazing Poddster Singapore Studios (thanks Borko Kovacevic and your brilliant team) where we talked about his first 130+ days in the role, whats coming up in 2025 and the strength of the UK Singapore relationship, plus we found out a bit more about Nik and his family. Look out for this in the next few weeks and thanks to all those who joined us. UK in Singapore 🎙️🗣️
5. Keeping the conversations flowing: We had a brilliant last Board meeting of 2024, and thank you to all of the board members for your support during this year. I also had the pleasure of meeting up with Alex H. and Shivendu Gadkar and a really inspirational meeting about all things #maritime and #technology, and, thanks so much to the awesome Cathy Hodge for popping into the Chamber after her massive week with the Smart Maritime Network. Exciting plans ahead… 🚢 💡
And with that, we’re off for the Great British Ball! Looking forward to a festive catch-up with our 500+ guests. See you there!
