#FridayFive from the Executive Director: 6 September 2024
Crikey, what an awesome, jampacked and impactful week. Here’s my #FridayFive .
1. Sustainability Dialogue – We (all of us!) did it! We successfully launched our inaugural Sustainability Dialogue, presented by Title Partner Barclays Private Bank, hosted at the Pan Pacific Singapore and support by Silver Partner The Carbon Trust. This inaugural event brought together leading business figures, government representatives, and sustainability professionals to foster action-driven discussions on the green economy and explore collaborative opportunities between the UK and Singapore. Delighted to welcome the British High Commissioner Nikesh Mehta, and Minister of State Alvin Tan. Three key note addresses, three rockstar panel discussions, three epic presentations, and 4 amazing workshops, and one hugely proud ED of my team, our business committees and all of you who attended. We also had engagement from the students of Westbourne College Singapore. Can’t wait for next year. Genuinely, huge thanks to all of you who supported us. 🌏🧩
2. Trade Digitalisation Project – We launched our Trade Digitalisation Pilots (TDP) at Global Trade Review (GTR) Asia conference. Key note by HMTC Martin Kent, followed by a panel discussion with Simon Middlebrough, Andie McKeown CMILT, Nimisha Tailor, and Zak Lawton, expertly moderated by Louise Beazor. Link to the landing page below, but this is an awesome step forward in trade digitalisation. Well done to all involved. 🚚📦
3. AstraZeneca – had a super inspiring meeting with Samuel Koh and Priscilla Peh as we talked about how the Chamber can be a super-connector for #healthtech and #medtech companies. Plans for our revised Healthcare and Life Science committee bubbling away nicely too – stay tuned! 🧑⚕️🏥
4. British Education – we welcomed the The Perse School (Singapore) setting up here, and were delighted to meet their senior management team. Welcome back to the community, and we look forward to working with you. Daniel Cross Simon Hearn Johan Stromsater Edward Elliott 📖 👩🏫
5. Ministry of Manpower – Lucy Haydon and Haslam Preeston continued our regular engagement with MOM in a closed-door session. Please do look out for the upcoming sentiment survey as your feedback feeds directly into our conversations with #UK and #Singapore Government. 🗣️🙌
Thanks to Nik for hosting a brilliant networking event this week too, where I saw so many from our community, couple of snaps with Jessica Morrison Christabel K. Desmond Tan
Phew – nearly time to clock off for the weekend, look forward to seeing you soon, and a HUGE thank you to the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore (BritCham) team who have been stellar this week.
