Dover Court International School Opens New NEST Discovery & Play Cove

Dover Court International School has officially opened its new NEST Discovery & Play Cove, a nature-inspired outdoor learning environment designed for children aged 3 to 7 (Nursery to Year 2).

Created as an extension of the classroom and shaped with input from students, the 806-square-metre space encourages learning through play, exploration and discovery. The purpose-built environment features climbing and balancing equipment, sensory and imaginative play zones, sand and water play areas, quiet spaces for reflection, and collaborative areas that support communication and teamwork.

The Discovery & Play Cove forms part of Dover Court's NEST (Nurturing Early Success Together) programme, which combines strong academic foundations with inquiry-based learning and play. Designed to foster curiosity, creativity and independence, the new space provides young learners with opportunities to explore, create and build confidence through everyday experiences.

The playground incorporates natural materials, mature heritage trees and responsibly sourced FSC-certified timber. Sustainability was a key consideration throughout the project, with elements of the previous playground repurposed where possible and existing equipment donated to local communities.
