Corporate Governance and Corporate Value – Needed Tool or Necessary Bane?

As the conduct of business and the running of companies become more complex, the challenges that boards face in ensuring that their corporations are governed efficiently, effectively and responsibly have increased correspondingly. Are corporate governance practices and mechanisms keeping up? Why are corporations asked to comply with so many requirements? Is it really worth doing so?
This webinar will revisit the intended purpose of good corporate governance practice and discuss how its evolution impacts corporations and their stakeholders. Participants will be invited to re-examine the relevance of corporate governance today having regard to its intended benefits for stakeholders and to weigh this against the costs associated with putting into place the needed governance mechanisms.
We will also have the opportunity to examine this in the context of the recent regulatory changes for Singapore listed companies including rules that link tenure and independence, the compulsory disclosure of director and CEO remuneration, reporting on board diversity and environment, social and governance reporting.
