#FridayFive from the Executive Director: 14 June 2024
Greetings from London – here is my #FridayFive from the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore (BritCham) from the last couple of weeks:
1. BCC Board Meeting – I had my second meeting of the year as a Non-Executive Director (International) for the British Chambers of Commerce. A fantastic team and I really saw how much the executive team, led by Shevaun Haviland, delivers, especially with the Global Annual Conference coming up in a couple of weeks time and in a period when the political landscape is moving every day on the run-up the General Election. Superb representation of #British business especially on how the political party manifestos impact businesses, and some exciting discussions around supporting trade overseas too. Watch this space! 🤝 👩💼
2. Take That, Level 42 – Lucy has worked wonders launching our “Best of British” series which pulls together British #cultural, #arts, #sports and #music events for the wider community. Delighted to be working with the likes of Lauretta Alabons and Rohan Lightfoot who have supported with our first two mega bands, Take That and English jazz-funk band Level 42. Members have access to early-bird tickets and exclusive group bookings. 🎹 🎷
3. Events Galore – I hosted our Annual Great British Pub Quiz, a fantastic night with 120 people attending, and we worked with NatWest Group Markets on an event on the UK #economy on the run up to the election, and worked with Tractus on finding the right manufacturing location for businesses. Thanks Søren Nikolajsen and Udai Panicker 🧠 🏭
4. Open House – The Chamber team has also been working with our colleagues at the British High Commission in Singapore (UK in Singapore) to support the Open House of Eden Hall on the 22nd June for the community. More details can be found on our website, and we look forward to seeing you next weekend. 👯 🏡
5. Revamped Orient Magazine – the team have revamped our Orient membership magazine. I’ll put a link in the comments below, and with this issue focused on a Business Toolbox, it’s a good read this month! 🔎 📕
I was also hugely grateful to Nikesh Mehta who kindly spent some time with me whilst I’ve been back to connect before his move to Singapore. Thank you City of London Corporation's Emma Wegoda; Tania Bowers and Stuart Feest of APSCo who welcomed me, and it was also good to bump into Simon Middlebrough and Andie McKeown CMILT.
