#FridayFive from the Executive Director: 15 May 2026

Plenty to talk about for my #FridayFive at the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore (BritCham) across our channels…not UK services stations this week, but services to members... Here’s what we’ve been up to:

1.   Vision: Our members are amazing – we had our AGM last night and it was brilliant to see over 100 people as the Chamber presented our collective outputs as a business community over the last year, delivered by our President Haslam Preeston in his superb Presidents report. We showcased our new Strategic Vision (which goes live next week) and really shapes the next chapter of the Chamber. Thank you to His Excellency Nikesh Mehta, for your support as patron of the Chamber. Such a good relationship between the High Commission and Chamber. What a brilliant evening, and we are set up well for future success.

2.   Outreach – part of our strategy covers ASEAN as well as Singapore, and it was excellent to have our monthly call with my Britain in South East Asia | BiSEA Chamber colleagues. More widely, it was super to catch-up with Stuart Dunn who’s doing a brilliant job running the British Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai. This regional collective brilliance is getting stronger and stronger.

3.   Influence – we welcomed our new Board at the AGM. A hugely warm welcome to new VPs, Ian Macdonald and Andrew Clark, our elected committee Prakash Pinto, Christina Mason, Andy Marr, Daisy Radford, Emma Loynes, Gavin Sung 宋志鴻 , Michael Buchanan, Dr. Michael Yap and Rodney Kinchington; Co-opted members Alexander Harrison, Freddy Lee, John A. Graham, John Kelly and Winnie Tang, together with invited board members, Damian Adams MBE (our UK representative), Lissy Vadakel and Niall Ahern. What a line-up! I look forward to working with you all. I have to say thank you to those who were on the Board last year, Suzy Goulding, Simon Middlebrough, Penny Murphy, David Haigh, Benjamin BIRKS and Steve Firstbrook. Thanks for your stella support.

4.   Connecting – I had the pleasure of connecting with David Ingram today. We recorded a podcast on his first year as Head of College at Dulwich College (Singapore). Also great to see Nick Potter, Alisdair Gillies MRICS, and Peter Godfrey this week too.

5.   Exchanging – with a bit of a finance theme, the Chamber supported a Coutts event, and it was a pleasure to meet Carla Floyd to talk about collaboration during her visit. Haslam, Lucy and I also met with Kee Joo Wong and Geraldine Yap from HSBC – thank you for your time and support.

That’s it for this week, and I’ve more than maxed out my mentions today, but stay tuned as we launch our Strategic Vision 2026-2027 next week…! And, congratulations (and thank you), to Lucy Haydon for your 10 years of service a the Chamber. Over and out.
