#FridayFive from the Executive Director: 22 May 2026

Its all taken off this week! Here’s my #FridayFive as we've landed another inspirtational week across the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore (BritCham)...

1.  Ready for the Future: We launched our strategic plan publicly on Monday, taking us up to 2030. I’ll put a link below. We also had an ExCo meeting following the AGM. Welcome to Andrew Clark and Ian Macdonald who join ExCo as our two new Vice Presidents. Sticking on the member link, our small business committee lead by James Price also hosted a welcome meeting to talk about engagement and how small businesses have a voice within our network. Welcome to you all, and I’m super excited about our strategic plan as we build the next chapter of the Chamber.

2.  Advancing Trade: Very excited (but sad not to be there!) to see the Life Sciences Trade Accelerator Launch in London. Our Uk representative and board member Damian Adams MBE was on a panel with UK Trade Envoy George Freeman FRSA FRGS MP and it was superb to have Teck Hean Ng, Singapore High Commissioner to the UK deliver a keynote. Thanks to NatWest Group and the British Chambers of Commerce for making this opportunity real for UK companies.

3.   Delivering the talent plan: Haslam Preeston, Lucy Haydon and I attended the Ministry of Manpower Work Plan Seminar. It was super to also see Eva Vincetic from European Chamber of Commerce, Singapore (EuroCham Singapore) and Bita Seow from SICC attend also.

4.   Across the Border: Together with Johor Economic, Tourism, and Cultural Office Singapore (JETCO), it was brilliant to talk about the opportunities for businesses in the Special Economic Zone, and to welcome members of the Chamber to attend. Thank you to the JETCO team, and to Vinothan Tulisinathzan who has been engaging with us for a few years to make this opportunity real - you are a superstar. More to come for sure in the coming months.

5.     Real world discussions: Our President has been instrumental in ensuring the Chamber is at the heart of key businesses issues. We launch and held our first Geo Politics committee this week. Thank you to all who supported this as we move forward to ensure that is at the forefront of business views. We also had a Committee Chairs meeting this week, where we walked through the strategy and the members heartbeat of the Chamber – we talked about the strategy, the trade corridor, AI, whats coming up, horizon scanning, engagement between the UK and Singapore government and opportunities for UK business in Singapore.

I didn’t manage to get to The Premier League event at Eden Hall (Lucy can tell you all about that!), and the photos don’t seem to demonstrate how busy its been, but what a Chamber, what a #network, and what a brilliant week to top of a first class chamber flying high. Have a great weekend.
