Committed to creating a positive difference amongst their students and building an inclusive, close knit community of support, inclusion, learning and kindness - Brighton College Singapore have shown exceptional resilience, establishing themselves amidst the Covid-19 Pandemic in 2020

Resilience Through the Covid-19 Pandemic

Brighton College Singapore has demonstrated exceptional growth since their inception in August 2020. Having opened their gates for the first time in the midst of the global COVID-19 Pandemic, with 36 children joining them on a fully remote basis. Since then, the college has grown significantly with a current enrollment of 350 students. From an initial educational offering for pupils up to Year 6, and now to Years 7 and 8, the college has plans to offer education from eighteen months to eighteen years and foresee being a school of 1200 pupils in just a few years. They also have plans to offer English language support for children as demand for quality British Education remains strong, with increasing interest among the Asian market.

Active Parent Involvement

Brighton College Singapore ensures parents are connected to their children's learning and classroom activities through interactive platforms like SeeSaw. Through this school application, parents are able to get updates on and visibility into their children's experiences during the school day. This includes learning in class, sports, acting, dancing or other co-curricular activities. The applications messaging function also enables parents to interact with their child's class teachers.

On top of formally reporting a child's progress to parents each term, they also offer parent consultations in two of those terms for an extended period. This open door policy enables parents to meet with teachers at a mutually convenient time, allowing the school to work alongside parents to really make a difference.

Another initiative implemented for parent engagement is the college's annual 'Voice of the Parent' survey. Focusing on four main areas: Leadership, Teaching & Learning, Operations and Communications - this parents the opportunity to provide feedback on the school's services.

The survey measures satisfaction in the form of a Net Promotor Score (NPS). Any score above 0 is considered ‘good’.

Scores from 2022 & 2023:

Leadership 8.7 in '22 & 8.9 in '23
Teaching & Learning 8.6 in '22 & 8.8 in '23
Operations 8.5 in '22 & 8.3 in '23
Communications 7.6 in '22 & 8.2 in '23

From 2022 to 2023, there was a marked improvement in the overall NPS for all categories, from 39.4 to 58.6; a 50% increase in only 12 months.

Community Building

Together with establishing 'The Brighton Society', to which all teachers, parents and staff are automatically members, the college hosts regular events for new and existing parents to connect for ease of settling into a new environment or a completely new country. Regular social events are also held throughout the year including Christmas parties and summer carnivals. All of these are designed to foster a sense of belonging and support within their tight-knit community.  Workshops are organized for parents across a variety of topics – supporting children’s reading, positive behaviour management, the impact of in-the-moment planning for young children and how to support them amongst others.

Social Impact and Care for Personal Development

Students are involved in charitable fundraising, in practical community activities such as beach clean-ups or performing to public audiences. Children also support each other in school as ‘Pelican Pals’, or School Council members, where they carry out acts of kindness which are rewarded in school daily. Other social development initiatives implemented by Brighton College Singapore include the appointment of a Head of Pastoral Care and a Head of Safeguarding Lead, tracking of pastoral well-being, ‘Global Be-Well’ day and assemblies to encourage good character traits.
