Deloitte's 2024 Global Human Capital Trends Report
Deloitte has just launched itsĀ 2024 Global Human Capital Trends report.
Based on global surveys with over 14,000 respondents from 95 countries, the report identifies seven trends that showcase how a combination of business and human outcomes plays a role in organisational success. This yearās analysis reveals that organisations making meaningful progress on these key issues are nearly twice as likely to achieve desired business and human outcomes.Ā Ā
In addition to the insights in the report, Deloitte has extracted some findings from Southeast Asia (SEA):
- Around half (54%) of respondents in SEA agree that their organisation is in the early phases of identifying better ways to measure worker performance and value, and only 9% say their organisations are leading in this area
- Most (77%) respondents in SEA note the importance of ensuring that human imagination keeps pace with technological innovation, but a mere 8% in SEA are making meaningful progress toward achieving that balance
- 77% of respondents in SEA say that cultivating culture, fluidity, agility and diversity at the individual team or workgroup is very or critically important to their success
In response to these findings, Deloitte spokespersons have offered their commentary below:
On defining new metrics for human performance:
āWith advances in technology, there is ample opportunity for organisations to tap on the power of data to measure employee performance ā but they need to do so with purpose and transparency. Leaders need to move from measurement for measurementās sake to in-depth analyses of performance. For this to work, they also need to earn their employeesā buy-in by effectively communicating the reasons behind data collection and establishing robust practices for privacy and data integrity,ā said Mark MACLEAN, HR Transformation Leader, Deloitte Southeast Asia.
On understanding human sustainability:
āWithin Southeast Asia, leaders recognise that prioritising human sustainability isn't separate from business success ā it's integral to it. Empowering employees to thrive isn't a trade-off with business outcomes; it's a pathway to enhancing them. By prioritising employee well-being, organisations unlock productivity, innovation, and resilience, ensuring sustainable success.ā said Indranil ROY, Workforce Transformation Leader, Deloitte Southeast Asia.
On fostering diverse and unique workplace cultures:
āThe conventional one-size-fits-all approach has become obsolete in meeting the diverse needs of today's workforce. Leaders should embrace the concept of local microcultures, as the unique culture of an employeeās immediate workgroup or team has a direct and powerful impact on their work experience. Organisations should acknowledge and honour the distinct requirements of each team, all while upholding an overarching set of core organisational values,ā said Mark TEOH, Organisational Transformation Leader, Deloitte Southeast Asia.
