The Energy Institute (EI) is the UK's leading chartered professional membership body for the energy industry, supporting over 19,000 individuals and 250+ companies from over 80 countries working in or studying energy. The organisation focuses on the development of professionalism and delivery of global good practice throughout the depth and breadth of the sector. It is increasingly focused on issues related to sustainability of energy supply and the promotion of improved energy delivery systems within the context of the mounting security of supply and environmental pressures we face today. The EI provides a wealth of development expertise and houses a large knowledge-base of scientific and technical knowledge for its members. It is licensed by the Engineering Council to offer Chartered, Incorporated and Engineering Technician status to engineers and also by the Science Council and Society for the Environment to offer registration as Chartered Scientist and Chartered Environmentalist.
