Château Canon Chaigneau arrives in Singapore!
Château Canon Chaigneau has announced the arrival of a curated selection of its finest wines in Singapore. This marks a significant milestone as London-born owner Romik Arconian and his partner, Marine Fontana, relocate to the region with their young family to introduce these premium wines to the Southeast Asian market.
This exclusive offering is available to members of the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore, presenting a rare opportunity to explore the exceptional craftsmanship of wines from Lalande-de-Pomerol. The wines are created under the expert guidance of legendary winemaker Thierry Garnaud, who served as maître de chai at the renowned Château Cheval Blanc for 25 vintages.
A Spotlight on the Vintages
2011 Vintage
Described as a wine of “classic elegance,” the 2011 Château Canon Chaigneau offers delicate notes of truffle, leather, and dried black fruits. Medium-bodied and perfectly aged, it is smooth, balanced, and ready to be enjoyed. The wine pairs beautifully with Christmas turkey or mushroom risotto. Joe Fattorini, a notable wine critic, named it his Wine of the Year 2023, calling it "serious, sexy, and exotic."
2016 Vintage
The 2016 vintage highlights the vineyard’s power and finesse, delivering vibrant flavours of ripe blackberries, dark chocolate, and subtle spice. Wine expert Colin Hay described it as "a grand wine from a grand vintage… gorgeous." Ideal pairings include steak frites or seasonal dishes.
Cuve 8a and Cuve 1a
The Cuve 8a and Cuve 1a wines represent Château Canon Chaigneau’s dedication to small-batch excellence. These limited-edition cuvées showcase the unique clay-limestone terroir, with Thierry Garnaud’s mastery evident in their depth and structure. The Cuve 1a, made entirely from Cabernet Franc, was praised by Colin Hay as "properly great," while the concrete-vinified Cuve 8a was described by Neal Martin as "excellent… worth hunting down."
