Last week, Tanglin welcomed members of the cast from the universally acclaimed hit musical, Hamilton. Their visit featured a series of workshops and Q&A sessions for Senior School students. The actors and actresses shared their expertise with the Middle School Moana cast, offering valuable advice to the lead roles. Additionally, they conducted a masterclass in singing with Tanglin Senior School students who participated in this year's Chicago production. The buzz of excitement surrounding their visit was palpable, and their performance tips were truly inspiring for our students.
Over the past few years, Tanglin’s drama department has significantly risen its profile at the school. More students are opting to for Drama GCSE, IB, and A Level courses, and there are more CCA performances – reflecting a growing recognition among both students and parents that drama fosters collaboration, communication, and creativity. To support this ambition, Tanglin has invested in and enhanced its drama teaching spaces. These improvements include a dance studio with a sprung floor, a White Studio, a new Black Box drama studio, and the Chandran Theatre, named after the former Head of Infant School, which can seat an audience of 140.
