WorkWell Leaders and SNEF Launch National Leadership Pledge for World Mental Health Month

WMHM Pledge

As businesses across Singapore recognise World Mental Health Month this October, the focus shifts toward prioritising mental health in the workplace. In line with the global theme It’s Time to Prioritise Mental Health in the Workplace, WorkWell Leaders, a workplace mental health charity, and the Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF), have launched a national digital pledge campaign. This initiative calls on leaders—whether they are CEOs, managers, or team leaders—to demonstrate their commitment to employee wellbeing by taking action on mental health.

With over 60% of employees in Singapore reporting burnout and heightened sensitivity to stress compared to last year, it is critical for organisations to align on mental wellbeing. By taking this pledge, leaders at all levels can set the tone for a healthier, more supportive workplace culture and #LeadTogetherForMH.

Free Training and Participation

As part of the initiative, organisations that participate in the pledge will have access to free workplace mental health training sessions, provided by SNEF, to help them embed wellbeing practices in their organisations. This added incentive supports companies in taking concrete steps to improve mental health support for their teams.

How to Get Involved

Leaders can participate in the pledge through these options:

Option 1: Post on the Digital Wall

  1. Visit the pledge page and click “Create Post.”
  2. Upload a selfie and share the following pledge:
"Together with my leadership team, I commit to supporting the wellbeing of our employees with action and programmes."
  3. Provide your name, company name, and email address.
  4. Click “Post Now” to share your commitment publicly.

Option 2: Share on LinkedIn

  1. Write a new post on LinkedIn with the pledge:
"Together with my leadership team, I commit to supporting the wellbeing of our employees with action and programmes."
  2. Tag @WorkWell Leaders so your pledge is connected to the digital wall.

Option 3: Organise a Silent Walk to Promote Mental Wellbeing

In addition to taking the pledge, businesses are encouraged to create their own initiatives to prioritise mental health. One impactful idea is organising a Silent Walk—a mindfulness activity where employees can reflect on mental health in a calm, quiet setting. This can be done during work hours to emphasise the importance of balance and mental clarity.

A great example is the World Mental Health Day Silent Walk being organised by the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore on 11 October 2024. Events like these provide employees with the space to connect with nature and reflect on their mental health in a meaningful way. Businesses are encouraged to set up their own Silent Walks to create similar moments of mindfulness for their teams during World Mental Health Month.

Rallying for Workplace Wellbeing

This pledge campaign is part of a wider movement to encourage leaders across all industries to prioritise the mental health of their employees. Leaders are urged not only to make the pledge themselves but to encourage their peers and team members to join the movement, sending a strong message of commitment to mental wellbeing within their organisations.

As Singapore continues to evolve its approach to workplace mental health, initiatives like this play a crucial role in driving real change, creating a more supportive and resilient workforce.
